Our Summer 2025-26 Newsletter Is Here
What a season it has been. From festive Christmas celebrations and Australia Day fun to verandah breakfasts and a very memorable Love Your Pet Day, the Summer 2025-26 edition of The Narangba News captures the warmth, laughter, and everyday moments that make our community such a wonderful place to call home.
A Season Full of Stories
Summer at Narangba was full, fun, and filled with great company. Live music was a constant thread through the season, bringing residents together to sing, dance, and simply enjoy the moment. Our new continental breakfast on the verandah quickly became a firm favourite, with gorgeous food, gentle music, and the sun shining over a relaxed start to the day.
Weekly Happy Hour kept everyone connected throughout the summer with live music, light refreshments, and plenty of dancing. Exercise and movement classes with Sue had our residents showing off some seriously impressive skills, and games sessions - from balloon tennis to brand new activities nobody had tried before - kept the laughter flowing all season long.
Highlights Across the Three Summer Months
December was a month of festive fun and cherished moments. We decorated, celebrated, and soaked up every bit of the Christmas spirit as a community, with families joining us for special activities and live music filling the home with songs that had everyone singing along and smiling from ear to ear.
January kicked off the new year with energy and warmth. Live music continued to move and inspire us, weekly activities kept us laughing and connected, and the relaxed summer feel of the month made it easy to simply enjoy each other's company and make the most of every day.
February was, as Facility Manager Rachael put it, an absolute cracker of a month. Australia Day brought friendly races and non-stop laughter, continental breakfasts on the verandah were in full swing, and Valentine's Day brought a lovely warmth to the home. The highlight of the month - and perhaps the whole summer - was National Love Your Pet Day, where residents shared beautiful stories about beloved animals, built a Pet Memory Wall together, and welcomed special animal visitors in person. A day many of us will not forget in a hurry.
Meet Helen
This edition's resident profile features Helen, who grew up across Nulla Mamma near Inverell, Salisbury, Strathpine, and spent 36 years at Lake Macdonald. A proud mum of four boys, bookkeeper, ballroom dancer, and self-described chatterbox, Helen's warmth and wisdom shine through every word. Her advice to others? Stay close to your family, look after your health, and never be too proud to ask for help when you need it.
Meet Lorna
Our team spotlight this season is Lorna, who was inspired to work in aged care by her sister and has never looked back. What she loves most about Narangba? The little moments - sharing stories and a laugh with residents that bring her genuine joy every single day. When she's not at work, Lorna loves the beach, time with family, and ticking destinations off her travel list - with New Zealand next on the horizon.
There is so much more inside, including a message from Facility Manager Rachael... Enjoy!
