The Narangba News: Autumn 2026 edition
The Autumn 2026 edition of the Narangba Aged Care newsletter has arrived, and what a season it captures. From a deeply moving Anzac Day service and a Harmony Day feast spanning fifteen different cultures to a Mother’s Day week of pure pampering, The Narangba News is full of the warmth, laughter, and everyday moments that make our community such a wonderful place to call home.
A season full of stories
Autumn at Narangba brought people together, honoured important occasions, and made the most of every opportunity to celebrate. Anzac Day was one of the most meaningful moments of the season, with students from Narangba Valley State High School joining us to help create a service that was moving and memorable for everyone who attended. Lest we forget.
Harmony Day was another genuine highlight. Our lifestyle team worked hard to source ingredients and prepare traditional dishes from many different cultural backgrounds, with fifteen different foods explored across the day. Sitting together to share those meals, and the stories that came with them, was something we will not forget.
The rhythm of everyday life kept us connected all season long. Happy hour every Wednesday remained a firm favourite, whether it brought live music, cold drinks, or simply good conversation and an afternoon well spent. A brass band performance lifted spirits across the whole home, a morning of golf in the fresh air was enjoyed by all, and Chef Sandra’s wonderful breakfast spreads gave us all a delicious start to the day.
Highlights across the three autumn months
March was full of connection and celebration. We marked International Women’s Day with a lovely morning tea and cupcakes, acknowledging the incredible women who have shaped history and sharing stories from our own remarkable community. St Patrick’s Day brought laughter, games, and delicious food, and Harmony Day rounded out the month with its unforgettable celebration of culture.
April brought some beautiful moments. The Easter Bunny paid us a visit, delivering eggs and smiles to everyone, and a lively brass band performance had the whole home tapping along. International Pink Day saw a wave of pink sweep through the home with fantastic music and delightful pink cupcakes, and the month closed with our special Anzac Day service.
May was an absolute highlight. Our monthly disco brought the dance floor to life, with music that had everyone moving, smiling, and connecting with one another. Mother’s Day was celebrated beautifully with morning tea, nail care and foot spa treatments, bocce, quoits, bingo, and Edward’s wonderful keyboard playing. Our mothers were well and truly pampered, and the raffle draw brought plenty of excitement.
Meet Derrick
This edition’s resident profile features Derrick, who grew up in a small town in the centre of England, served with the RAF, and built a career as an electrical engineer specialising in microwave technology. A lifelong reader, writer, and sportsman, Derrick’s wisdom shines through every answer. His philosophy on life? There are no strangers in this world, only friends you have not met yet. And his advice to our community: meet others halfway.
Meet Bree and Vanessa
Our team spotlight this season features two familiar faces. Vanessa from our food services team treasures the friendships she has made and the stories our residents share with her, and outside of work she is mad about AFL and her local footy club. Bree from our lifestyle team loves bringing smiles to residents’ days, and spends her spare time sewing and renovating her house, with dreams of one day visiting Canada.
There is so much more inside, including a message from Acting Facility Manager Manpreet on the fresh new look around our home, winter wellness tips from our Quality Corner, and Chef Sandra’s Milo Slice recipe.
